Shannon Wood

Hi! I’m Shannon!

I’m a Christ follower, a wife to my best friend, and a twin mom. As if that doesn’t keep me busy enough, let’s also add writer, communicator, crafter/ DIY enthusiast, and educator. I also have a passion for encouraging people and “in my spare time”  you can find me searching for travel deals and amazing hiking locations!

I typically juggle all of those things with one hand while holding a great cup of coffee in the other. I’m always ready to engage in fun, always ready to meet new people and invest in relationships, and always ready to share what I’m learning.

I love all things plants and beautiful home decor! Being the creator of Living for the Win and Shannon’s Fun Finds provides me with not only a creative outlet, but also the opportunity to meet new people and share ideas on navigating the now while Living for the Win.

I give God the credit for all that I have and all that I am.

Sharing my experiences in order to help and encourage others is a passion for me. On the pages of Living for the Win, you will have the opportunity to get to know me and learn how God has worked and continues to work in my life.

Here, you will find honesty, imperfections, and candid stories about my life and even my shortcomings. I’ll share lessons I’ve learned (and am still learning) while I figure out how to navigate the now.

Visit Living for the Win and to see our latest budget friendly vacation deals.

You can follow us as we travel and we will help you with ideas for your next adventure!

We’ll share photos, money saving tips, and reviews from our getaways and hiking trips.

I’m obsessed with travel and my family. We go quite often! I am excited to share what we learn as we search for deals and explore other happy places and fun vacation destinations.

Speaking of family, parenting is no joke! And parenting twin girls is not been for the faint of heart. I’m passionate about connecting with moms to offer a message of hope, encouragement, and management strategies about navigating through mom life, and staying true to yourself and your family while making the most of each day and of the difficulties.

Grateful to get to spend some of my time writing for Living for the Win because I love expressing myself with words. I’m also super excited to be currently be writing my first novel. I plan to finish it next year. As an Elementary Teacher of the Gifted, I also enjoy helping children fall in love with reading and writing.

After losing over 100 pounds, I am extremely passionate about eating clean and understanding the how food can affect your body. I’ll share recipes that work and tips that I’m learning about inflammation, trigger foods, and the truth about how sugar can affects your brain and focus.

I’m also willing to share how I handle emotional eating and how I’m learning to manage the stress that leads to mindless calories

In addition, I’m willing to share information and details (and be honest) about the way I have to manage  and stress eating- and how completing a month of Whole 30 along with a book called Made to Crave, and a whole lot of faith changed my life.

I hope you find at least one reason to visit Living for the Win frequently and walk with me to find encouragement or travel tips, reach for a healthier lifestyle, check out one of my favorite  beach get aways, or order custom items from my online small business, Shannon’s Fun Finds
And finally –
I’m a Georgia Peach that loves the south! And- I also believe in the importance of expanding my horizons in order to escape that typical Southern Girl stereotype. Although I have definitely been successful at broadening my lens through travel and education, I am proud to say that I’m still a southern girl at heart and, right or wrong, the accent remains.
